Sumer's project at the Center for American Democracy examines the psychological characteristics that predispose individuals to share fake news articles and deepfake videos with others and the impact that exposure to deceptive media has on the psychological wellbeing of victims. Sumer holds a BA in Psychology, a MA in Social Sciences and a graduate certificate in Computational Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.
