IRiSS Predoctoral Fellow
2025–26

Lauren Traum is a Predoctoral Researcher with Stanford’s Sociology Department and the Voices Lab at the Center on Poverty and Inequality. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, where she majored in philosophy and minored in mathematics, focusing on resource distribution ethics and statistics. Her prior research includes building statistically grounded ideological maps of state legislatures, measuring discrepancies in federal housing subsidies given to homeowners and renters, and using AI tools to improve access to pre-digital public financial disclosure documents. At the Voices Lab, she will explore how large language models can surface meaningful insights from personal narratives collected through the American Voices Project.
