The Dean’s Award of Merit originated in the school in 1999 to acknowledge the important role staff play in the success of the school and the University. Additionally this award helps supervisors recognize significant contributions made by their staff. In 2023, The Dean’s Award added an award recognizing contributions in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. Carolyn was the first recipient, recognizing her long track record of working to diversify the pipeline of students entering graduate programs in the social sciences.
