NSF's head of the Directorate for the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences visits IRiSS

Arthur "Skip" Lupia, head the NSF's Directorate for the Social, Behavioral, and Economic sciences, traveled to IRiSS to speak on the national social science research funding landscape. Skip provided the IRiSS Advisory Board with highlights from his strategy to communicate the importance of social science research to Congress, which has resulted in an increase in congressional funding for the social sciences for the first time in several years.

He also led a workshop with early-career Stanford faculty on navigating funding for social science research projects, with over 20 faculty members in attendance. Skip is a long-time friend to IRiSS having served as the University of Michigan's co-PI of the American National Election Studies in partnership IRiSS.
