8/29 & 8/30: Introduction to R (10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

  • setting up the R workspace
  • creating and storing objects
  • functions
  • R packages
  • reading data,
  • selecting and subsampling data
  • merging and appending datasets

9/7: Text Analysis (10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

Taught by Dave Markowitz

Topics to be covered:

  • Why analyze language and what our words say about us
  • Demonstration of various automated text analysis tools
  • How to use social media data for social and psychological evaluations of language
