AREP Guide for Alumni

Getting Started on AREP Scheduler

The AREP scheduler is easy to use. Basic instructions for logging in and taking studies are below. You may also email with questions: alumnirep [at] stanford.edu (subject: Question%20about%20A-REP) (alumnirep[at]stanford[dot]edu).

Logging in for the first time:

Follow these steps if you are logging in to the online AREP scheduler for the first time.

  1. Please go to http://stanfordalumnirep.sona-systems.com.
  2. Click the button that says "Request Account."
  3. Type in your name. Then type in a User ID of your choice, and your email address. If you remember your 8 digit Stanford ID, enter it as well. We do NOT need your phone number. Finally, click on “Request Account."  Your password will be emailed to you. At the bottom of that email will be your 5-digit Identity Code, which you will need to enter into surveys. (Name and Stanford ID information is not shared with researchers, who only see your identity code). The identity code is different than your User ID, which you use to log into the system.
  4. Once you receive your password, login by entering the User ID you created, and the password emailed to you by the system. (You can later change the password under "My Profile.")
  5. Once you have logged in for the first time, you will see an introduction to your first mandatory prescreen survey. To complete the questionnaire and to finish logging in, please click on “Start Prescreen." You have to complete the prescreen in one sitting - it will not save and allow you to return. If you find you cannot advance to the next page, scroll up to find a question you missed and a red error message. Answer that question and you should be able to continue.
  6. After you complete the questionnaire, please review your answers. You can change any of your answers by clicking on your original answer. When you are satisfied with your responses, please click on “Save Prescreen” at the top of the review page.
  7. Read the concluding prescreen comments and then click on “Continue." You are now able to navigate around the AREP scheduler.

Description of Participant Main Page:

Please note that within the AREP scheduler, participants are sometimes referred to as "students."

You will see four sub-menus on the Student Main Page.

  1.  The first submenu is “Studies." This submenu will allow you to look at a list of studies open to you for participation. You will be able to sign up and make appointments to participate in studies under this submenu.
  2. The second submenu is “My Schedule & Credits." This submenu allows you to view your past and current study appointments. You will be able to cancel current appointments here.  Also under this menu, you will be able to view the status of your earned IRiSS Points.
  3. The third submenu is “My Profile.” This submenu allows participants to view and modify their personal information, including their password.
  4. The fourth submenu is "F.A.Q." This submenu contains answers to frequently asked questions. Please email the program director with any questions not addressed in the F.A.Q.

Viewing Studies:

Click "Studies" on the top menu to begin viewing studies available for your participation. There are two ways in which you can view studies. You can either view studies that are available on a specific date or you can view all studies available for you to take.

  1. If you want to view all studies available for you to take, please click on “View all Studies."
  2. If you want to view all studies available on a specific date, choose the date you want to take a study, and click "View." (This is not particularly useful for online studies, as timeslots are deadlines BEFORE which you need to have taken the study.
  3. To view more information about a specific study, under the "Studies" box, please click on the title of the study of interest to you.
  4. To sign up for a study, click “View Timeslots for this Study." You can also email the researchers to find out more about the study.

In addition, the prescreen survey counts as one point, and the feedback survey counts as one point. You can complete any number of studies you wish, and we greatly appreciate any participation. Participants who complete a set number of points may be entered in a drawing (click on the F.A.Q. menu on the AREP scheduler for details.)
